Gabon Telecom SA is the National historic operator, born of the division of
the Postal and telecommunications Office in 2001 in accordance with Act No.
004/2001 of 27 June 2001 on the reorganization of the postal and
telecommunications sector. In March 1999, Gabon Telecom created Libertis, its
mobile brand.
In February 2007, following an international tender, the Gabonese state ceded
51% of the shares to Maroc Telecom. On 23 December 2010, Morocco Telecom and the
Gabonese state finalized the completion of the agreements signed in 2008.
The extraordinary General Assembly of Gabon Telecom of 20 December 2011 endorsed
the merger of Gabon Telecom with its subsidiary Mobile Liberties.
Also, Gabon Telecom has since 1 July 2016, operated a merger with the company
Atlantic Telecom Gabon (MOOV), subsidiary of the Etisalat Group. The pooling of
resources (human, material and financial) was carried out during the year 2016.
Gabon Telecom provides fixed telephony services (voice and data) as well as
access to the Internet, and currently remains the only fixed telephony operator
in Gabon.
With regard to mobile activity, it evolves under the brands Libertis and Moov,
and offers prepaid, Post paid, voice and data services. It also provides
roaming.
Gabon Telecom also offers internet access via its wired network (especially
broadband ADSL).
Access to the SAT-3 submarine cable enables Gabon Telecom to meet its
international bandwidth needs and to market international services (Internet,
voice) to other telecoms operators.
